Who's in, who's out?

Surprise at JALC, the interim dean is named the real dean! Who woulda seen that coming? Now, how would a person from the career side of the house come to be named to lead the transfer area? Whose thumb was on THAT scale? The suspects are just to numerous to list... Sigh.

And down the road, turns out the SIU BOT had some hard questions for Pres. Poshard. So hard, in fact, that he tendered his retirement papers rather than face 'em.

Any loyal followers still here after Muddy Williamson's protracted summer hiatus? Anyone want to comment?

We've missed our ... favorite ... poster... she-or-he who is unable to actually end a sentence ... with a period ... No one has called any of us "idiots" for weeks now.

  1. Keep on writing and I will keep on reading. What about the 2014 Budget? July 1, 2013 is the start of the 2014 year. Has a budget been prepared? Approved by the Board?

  3. OH surprise; the retreat delayed. Maybe our favorite poster has learned to keep his mouth shut per orders from the BREW CREW CHIEF!

  4. July 25 Anon, We share your interest in the 2014 budget, and your questions. The 2013 budget was approved June 26, 2012, according to the college site, before the end of the fiscal year. Nothing in the June BOT minutes or on the July agenda regarding the 2014 budget. Are funds still being moved from instruction to "institutional support"? Does "institutional support" include retreats? Was funding a reason for cancelling the retreat? Nah, we don't think so either. Here's to continued scrutiny by our Alert Readers, Frequent Posters, and the Southern Illinoisan.

    1. Thank you, 4:57pm post. Money is moved from accounts BEFORE closing out accounts June 30 (ready for audit). Typically, they like to do this Feb/March to have some lead time before May. Look for TRANSFERS IN/TRANSFERS OUT in the audit. Is the business office getting behind in their work? Or, is it someone else holding up the 2014 budget?

  5. The excuse of the cancellation of the retreat by Jake Rendleman was quite hilarious . Needed to give the new board members a chance to get a better feel of what is necessary . What new board members?
Graeff has served on the board before and knows what is going on with John Logan and Kilquist is definitely well informed and needs no more time to give to go on a retreat. He's been there and done this before. So the great chairman of the boards excuse was pathetic on why the retreat was cancelled;typical Rendleman b.s.
Rendlemans quote in the southern Illinoisan referring to "hiring" as there has been no problems during HIS ADMINISTRATION but he admits there were problems in the past in his quote. Thanks Mr. Rendleman for admitting there were problems in the past and you were part of that board.
    Political BS at its best.

  6. Also - Rendleman doesn't believe low scores on employee confidence with board. Check out Dilbert cartoon in today's Southern Illinoisan. Pointy-haired boss doesn't like results of staff surveys that show 98% of employees have no confidence in management. His solution to avoid future low scores: No more surveys! Priceless.

  7. While the board is looking for things prior to their retreat I suggest they look at the high administrative salaries at the college when the new budget comes out. In my opinion there are too many CHIEFS and not enough Indians at JALC. When are the two vice presidents moving into our college district so they can pay taxes like the rest of us? We need to see the faculty full time status increased and the recruitment of students to increase.A decrease in the number of administrative positions would be a good start in getting the faculty salaries and # of full time teachers up which aids the students!

  8. In the current system the salaries for "Puppets" are a higher priority than salaries for idiots, slime, & braniacs.
