Retroactive reimbursement? But only for some?

Looking forward to the posting of the BOT meeting minutes from August 27.  Specifically, the Board Policy Committee report.  Sound dry?  Let’s see. If rumors are true, new BOT policy reimburses staff who have gotten advanced degrees recently. Since a very specific date. Who has just finished advanced degrees, and is trying to suck the (hopefully) last bit from the trough? Might their last names correspond directly with current and very recent members of the BOT? Will the college (and the rest of us) ever be done paying, and paying and paying, for these offspring who are apparently unable to get or keep jobs without help from dad?

Guys, why not try your hands somewhere else? You might like the feeling that you got the next job based on your skills, in a fair and open search. You might even get hired full time right off the bat. Go for it.

  1. I heard another GREAT idea today. Can anyone think of a way to get term limits passed for board members? Hoping to hear from you... BRaitt

  2. Term limits should be applied to BOT members. Now State of Illinois is pushing it so maybe someone should look into how to go about doing that for College Trustees.
Best way to get terms though is getting out and working for the voters to get those out which has not been done in the past until recently.

  3. Minor detail: Why is there no adjournment TIME in the Minutes? Minor detail?

  4. Oh my; Friday newspaper shows we have the the on again, off again, on again board member Kilquist contemplating running for State Rep. He states if he decides to run Madigan support is a must! He also states he would resign from Board of Trustees at Logan if elected!
He is the "voters" boy and no one elses boy according to his quote in Southern Illinoisan. We shall see but I would imagine he doesn't have enough support to merit a state rep job but it would benefit JALC board if he did win.
The vindictive attitude trustee was the voters boy when he won a 6 year term. We all knew he wouldn't keep his interest up for 6 years..Never has and here he has changed his attitude toward serving his term again for a "better position" possibly. But the voters voted for him due to his LOVE for the college. LOL!!!

What do you expect from the Logan Board of Trustees? Loyalty? The position is one that Mr. Kilquist is using for his own ego and own agenda, not to benefit JALC and the community. He is also using his position on the BOT to "get even" with certain departments at the college and individuals who supported his ouster from the board in the past election.
I must emphasize these actions are only by a few board members not the entire group.

  6. Isn't it a conflict of interest to run for one elected office while holding another? Isn't there an implied "you scratch my back" kind of deal when he asks for campaign money while serving as a trustee at one of the biggest employers in the area? As usual, his promise to resign "if elected" (ha ha, Madigan just trying to screw with the other candidate, using Kilquist as his "boy") is too little too late, just like resigning as do-nothing head of security only after filing petition to run for the board again. Stinks, stinks, stinks.

  7. My fellow idiots, scum, & brainiacs....Don't be surprised to see a resignation from
Kilquist.....The interesting story to follow would be the appointment to fill his position. The Don needs someone to carry out his dirty work, protect his son, & provide a voice that Rendelman can't. The Williamson County faction of the board
needs someone that Big Don can't run roughshot over. (Snider?). The battle for that position would certainly make for entertainment. As always....all in the best interest of the college. Get your bets down!

  8. Snider would be a great representative or Williams..but we know Brewer has his cronie ready to be assigned. It would be great if Kilquist resigned but don't expect it to happen. Kilquist campaign has $30,000.00 in it according to the Southern Illinoisan story..where the heck did that come from. I didn't see any fundraisers in his last election . Maybe we will see a resignation but if it happens it will be because he can benefit by getting off the board. Wonder who wrote the previous entry calling us idiots, scum and brainiacs..Any guesses??
