Cheryl Graff elected

Cheryl Graff has won a seat on the Board.  There is approximately 4% of the vote outstanding, but she has an insurmountable lead.

Bill Kilquist looks to be the other winner tonight.  Jim Snider could still theoretically catch him but would need to capture nearly all the uncounted votes in Jackson and Williamson counties.

  1. A Big Congrats. Cheryl for being the #1 vote getter...It is just a shame that Snider was defeated by Kilquist.
Voters decided so let it be...it is what it is..only time will tell
the Nepotism issue is 2/3rds of the way done now with Don Brewer being the only remaining board member with a son as an administrator.
It was my first attempt in a campaign which will definitely be my last. I achieved partially what my goals were when I decided to run. A very dedicated individual I am to the college and my "pay forward" to them is finished.
Now that does not mean that I won't be involved with the college and watching the progress of better ethics on the board.
I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND ONE THING.. HOW CAN THE TEACHERS UNION SPONSOR ADS FOR MR. KILQUIST ON RADIO AND endorse Snider and Graff and pay for their ads.
Can anyone tell the public that answer because everyone saw the ads endorsing the two best candidates for the position? If I were the teachers union and DID NOT pay for these ads I think I would be raising cane and investigating this one closely. Did the Union decide to endorse 3 candidates..Mr. Kilquist didn't even interview for the union endorsement.
Not saying anyone did anything wrong but it was very deceptive and probably cost Snider some votes.

Keep the BLOG GOING..IT IS GREAT to expose problems that exist at the school and the community. Community exposure of these problems are important..Look at the 2 fathers who lost their spots on the board..Community spoke!

  2. Mike, the ads for Kilquist were not paid by the faculty union. The radio station admitted to the error and was suppose to run retraction ads. Not sure if they actually did. The damage was already done. As others have said on this forum, someone at the radio station needs to lose his/her job. How did this "mix up" happen?

  3. The UNON should be on their necks big time and hopefully they already are. They should receive their money back for their advertisements and a on the air public apology admitting to the stations air should be made.
Union spent alot of $ on those ads- something I could not afford but now my question is who DID PAY for the Kilquist ads? Did he have a committee formed with the state? Was proper papers filed to the State Board of Elections by Mr Kilquist?
Something that the union needs to investigate? Anything over $3,000 requires a mandatory financial report filed with Board of Elections at the state level and the paper work is unbelievable.
Union...go and get all of that information..It could be interesting for you

not sour grapes but if I had to do it..He should have to..guarantee his expenses were over $3,000 and one expenditure over $1500 must be reported within 10 days after spending it.

    1. You're on target, Mike. And the union should also get the FCC involved regarding the "mistakes."

  4. I think the union should go on record and demand Kilquist resignation before he even takes a seat.

  5. I have said it before and I will say it again..Lets give him a chance prior to crucifying him..Maybe just maybe as he sits back and thinks about it all..If he says he is all about the school, kids, etc. then those stripes will change during his six year term on the board.
He realizes what people are saying and if his antics are the same they will be repeated over and over again in public. I hope for the sake of the school, faculty, staff and students- THINGS WILL CHANGE WITH THE CURRENT BOARDS ATTITUDE.
Vendettas and grudges will not benefit anyone. So if it starts all over again it just means that everything that has been exposed about the PAST has not changed and we will all expose it again!
Let the administration run the school and the board oversees it. Do NOT micromanage..if micromanagement and intimidation, etc. remains it is going to be a LONG 6 years for Kilquist and a very, very, very long year for Rendleman and Brewer.
